One Hundred Days: Day Twenty-Four

Spread the love

It’s a SAD day in the San Juan Islands, located in the great Pacific Northwest. This was my “viewport” when I opened my front door this morning….it was enough to make me turn around and go back to bed. Yet the interior of my house does not mirror the dreary landscape of the outside as we have designed it to compensate for the long gray winters.

This means we’ve incorporated the warm orange and apricot colors of our Island sunsets into our Interior Design. Our indirect lighting gives the illusion of sun shine even on the most gray of gray winter days.  I dont ever feel SAD or sunlight deprived during the winter months! I am especially appreciative of this warm glow all around me while being cooped up inside during my recuperation journey.

Conclusion: Design for the light of your Geographic location, taking into consideration ALL the seasons, the elevation, the predominant view or outlook and the appreciation of the residents.

Challenge: Exercise, exercise, exercise when all all I see are baby steps!
