One-Hundred Days: Day Sixty-Six
My recuperation journey has never been without flowers; and often two dozen roses strategically placed for me to see from my perch on the antique circular sofa in the kitchen bay window, where I spend most of my days working!
These came for Easter and every time I look up from my computer I am reminded of all the things James has done over the past Sixty-Six days to make things better and easier for me. There really are an amazing number of things to be grateful for.
I still have to navigate the next twelve days wearing the abusive boot while walking around, but keeping my walking focus to a minimum. So bad.
When I remove the boot after twenty minutes or so on my feet, I have to administer cold and hot compresses to keep the swelling down. Five minutes cold and ten minutes warm/hot have been keeping things under control, so that by the end of the day things are not out-of-hand. I’ve noticed the combination cold and warm is quite an improvement over just the ice packs. And of course don’t forget to elevate!
I’ve also added a piece of 2″ memory foam to the inside of the boot, left over from the cat bed I made for Tai Chi. This helps insulate the top of my foot from the invasive straps, invasive when I am walking and lift the heavy boot with my foot. It’s like wearing the worst designed shoes imaginable:-) One size fits all! Sorry about this rant…. but this is therapy after all!
Easter Greetings to everyone, with special thanks for all those supportive emails and calls.
