One Hundred Days: Day Seventy

Thoughts are things! That’s an expression my mother used quite often; meaning if you visualize strongly enough it will happen. I’m visualizing wearing my right shoe; the other half of a new pair of Fitflops I just purchased online~ not a Fitflop sandal as I usually buy, but a closed lace-up boot….with red laces of course!

Fitflops have saved my life for several years now, as I can walk on or in them all day. Check out their engineered sole…or is that soul……on Flitflop technology

My goal is to walk into my appointment with Dr.Reed and his Xray machine, in nine days in my invasive MaxTrax boot, and walk out wearing two comfortable matching Fitflop boots! Thoughts are things!

I am walking pretty well now but have to limit time on my feet on account of my propensity to swell; some of which I am convinced is caused by the boot prescribed by my Doctor. I am using a walker, not to keep my weight off my ankle, but to keep my balance as the boot I am forced to wear, is inclined to tip to the right…..and I don’t want to risk twisting my new, improved ankle:-)

My “designer-ish” red walker loaner is courtesy Lopez Hospice, who have a garage full of walkers and wheelchairs available to local residents at no cost.

CASUDI~red~walker

It’s  the “all wheel” drive model and has breaks… and a seat for sitting when you get tired or for carrying things back and forth which I do a lot of. I took it for a spin on my deck yesterday after it arrived, but I can’t surf and walk at the same time:-)

Conclusion: We passed the two-thirds mark (of the 100 days recuperation journey) and things are definitely looking up again after some really “blue days”….. maybe even a week or so of them!

Challenge: To quit when I am ahead. That means don’t push the walking……try and quit when it still feels good, and before the MaxTrax starts to feel like a lead weight……
