One Hundred Days: Day Seventy-Five

The good news is that I got the OK to wear two shoes on Day Seventy-Two; and the very good news is it went like a dream for two days…… and then it felt like I should back off a bit with the weight-bearing, and rest-up with elevated cold and hot! Just when you think you’ve got it made…..and you think it’s clear sailing from here on out, you encounter a “bump’ in the road!

I wrote in my Day-Fifteen post Just when you think you have things all worked out, you realize they don’t really work anymore and you have to change, modify, pivot your strategy or plan. That is the similarity between the StartUp and recuperation journey.” and how true this has proven to be

So most of Friday I spent with about 80% weight on my right ankle/foot whenever I moved around on foot. Eighty percent weight bearing is easy to do with the walker and the strong arms I have developed over the course of my recuperation journey.

On Saturday morning I worked from the comfort of my bed with a view of the snow endowed Olympic mountains. A severe cold front had moved through the night before, fortunately in our protected location it was not quite cold enough to hale or snow (as predicted) and kill the many buds ready to burst forth with spring flowers.

By the end of the day yesterday I was pretty much where I was two days ago…..but still limiting my walk-about time!

Now on Sunday it’s an up/down day. I’m walking around quite smoothly, team cooked crepes for brunch and ……. then suddenly my foot wants to rest:-) and back to the couch.

The navy blue nubuck “goody” two shoes are also new from Fitflop; the red laces came from Amazon!  Now I’ll be able to alternate between two sensible pairs of enclosed lace-up shoes….sensible shoes that are not typical for me!

Conclusion: You have to know when it’s time to back-off and regroup ~ if you are correct in your back-off assessment you’ll be moving forward again in no time at all. That’s true for the recuperation journey and so true in the Startup space.

Challenge: To not get discouraged, or totally discouraged when you hit a pot hole in the recuperation journey:-) ~ That’s so true for the Startup journey as well.
